Instrument: Violin
Kaitlin Higby was born in Sarasota, Florida where she began playing violin at age ten after learning “Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star” on a neighbor’s violin. WIth the support of her family, she began classical lessons at age 11. Her interest in violin grew, and with her newfound passion, she began playing in the Sarasota Youth Orchestra program throughout middle and high school. Her childhood centered on learning about the creative arts, but her sole focus always remained on the orchestra and violin.
In 2014, she moved to Orlando to attend college and began working at Atlantic Strings Violin Shop and teaching violin at local schools. She currently attends the University of Central Florida where she is studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences. She hopes to incorporate music and its parallel to language in her practice as a speech therapist.
She is also a member of the American Federation of Musicians in Central Florida and a violinist for Violectric, Fretless Rock and Strings Etc.
